FaerieWorlds 2011

We are back on the island but our feet still do not touch the ground. What an amazing Weekend. We had soooooo much fun and learned a ton. We are so thankful to those of Nymbol's troupe that made the trip south and made it the grand experience that it was. We could not have done it without you.

How to sum up 4 days of camping, performing and frolicking. Fortunately I can't, one has to be there and experience things that will lock into their memory for years to come. We hope you can make the journey to Eugene sometime to see it for yourself.

The costumes were amazing, the music awesome as always and the whole vibe spectacular. Drumming and merry making went well into the night. My only complaint was Saturday's weather. There were three times that it cleared. Once for our show at 2, once for our show at 5, and it finally broke when Nymbol was invited on the main stage for an interview. Some magic at play there I believe. The weather faeries like Nymbol.

I do have a couple precious memories I will share. The first is watching all my ladies perform, sing and dance with all their hearts. They make me so proud. A more perfect father's day could not be had by anyone.

The second and pleasantly surprising thing is that Nymbol has real fans. When we awoke to pack on our last day we found a sprinkling of fan mail around our campsite. Adorable. We packed it away in a safe place and will post it soon. One of the lovely Faeries we have seen at FaerieWorlds over the years came by to tell us her daughter woke up singing one of our songs. I don't think it gets any better than that.

Lastly, I want to Leave you with a story. The morning of our second show Nymbol headed over to the row of little blue houses to do his morning ritual. He was standing in line unnoticed by the bedraggled Faeries in attendance. There were two little boys running around and having a great time for it being so darn early in the day. As he got closer he could here them singing a little song of their own making.
"Nana said Poop on the potty, Nanny said Poop on the potty." sung one
"Nana said Poop on the potty, Nanny said Poop on the potty." sung the other one.
"Nana said Poop on the potty, Nanny said Poop on the potty." the first one sung back.
They carried on like this for quite a while, their voices joining together and growing in strength.

Then the sound of a heavily sprung plastic door slamming shut and Nana's voice "Are those your potty words???"

Complete silence.

Then, as they walked away a little ray of sunshine broke as the little one whispered in song,...

"Nana said poop on the potty......."

You can't make stuff like that up. That little story became the intro Nymbol told to set the scene for the next show.
Thank you Silas and Zander.

Faerieworlds here we come.

The time of year has changed so hopefully it won't be so Damn hot but other than that we are ready to go. The Van is running and ready to be stuffed, the trailer is already full to the gills. I will do a big post after we come back and maybe even an update while we are down there if there is an internet connection. Ya never know.

Nymbol does Port Townsend

I could go on about how we are so thankful to everyone and how awesome everyone was (because they are) but I would rather frame it in a story.
Nymbol's Secret Island is now a travelling show. We can say that because,....we went somewhere. There was much excitement along the way but there is one moment that sums up our trip in my mind. I will condense the little video I shot and put that up soon but it is this. At the beginning of the second half of the show Junior Goblin comes out and starts to dance around with Oakie the tree elf. When we did the show at WICA we used a good but rough recording of Rob creating his magic with a song that defies description. This night Rob is banging on an upright piano that looks like it forgot to dress for the occasion. Peggy is up on stage playing the accordian and doing her best and cutest chipmunk impression. As the song winds up there are smiles all around and I am sure most folks had no idea of the brilliance they were witnessing. The boys run around stage and it is over. One moment caught on a crappy camera that will make me smile forever. Trekking back the day before we have just arrived at the hall and asked if we can drag out that piano from the basement they said we can use.
"What Piano, I don't think we have a piano."
"Oh,...that piano, I don't know how the hell your going to get it up here!"
"Wait, lets ask Frank(?) if you can use it."
"That thing needs to get outta here!" says Frank.
"you want a piano,....it's yours if you if you can haul it away!"

"Yes!" says I.

25 minutes later most of the male members of Nymbol's crew are pushing the Piano up a near verticle ramp and onto the stage. 27 minutes later Rob is taking bits off the Piano and laying on the floor creating "Bee-youuuuutafull music"

At the end of the show we rolled the piano down the ramp and into the back of the Trailer. Nymbol's now has a very appropriate piano and we all have memories of a magical moment in time.

Hope to share some more soon.
